Hand engraving workshops
Caius Bearder teaches the historical art of hand engraving, in which a hand graver is used to push polished cuts into the surface of metals, creating beautifully intricate patterns and designs.
Suitable for beginners, no previous metalworking or engraving experience required.
This 2 day course will run from 10-5pm each day. 6 people maximum.
Over these two days, you will learn to make your own graver, learn how to transfer your designs onto metal, and learn the foundations of hand engraving techniques, using them to create a hand engraved design in copper. The graver and mounting board are yours to keep, so you can keep practicing and developing your new skills after the workshop is completed.
Magnification, transfer materials, copper sheet, and tea and coffee will be provided. Please bring a sketchbook and drawing materials if possible.
